Rotating Detonation Engine (RDE) Combustion for Rocket Applications

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to conduct an experimental study designed to assess and quantify these and relevant RDE phenomena/potential benefits of RDE rocket engine using the large rocket engine test stand at Purdue s Maurice Zucrow Laboratories. In planned experiments, methane and hydrogen fuels will be used with oxygen at mean pressure levels in excess of 20 atm to simulate rocket-like operation conditions.
