Mesoscale Modeling of Liquids
Abstract
The goal of this research effort is to develop and apply new theoretical and computational multiscale methods to study the equilibrium and nonequilibrium processes of multicomponent liquids (especially ionic liquids) at the micrometer scale. The effort will involve unique bottom-up nonequilibrium multiscale simulation methods together with new approaches to define the multiscale correspondence between molecular, supramolecular (collective), and mesoscopic scales, resulting in mappings into effective field theories from atomistic models. This work will enable understanding of liquid phase material properties as functions of composition.
