High-order Harmonic and Attosecond Spectroscopy in Materials

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to study strong-field physics in solid materials. This will be done by applying time-resolved measurement techniques to resolve the response of electrons in materials to a strong light field, and to follow the femtosecond dynamics of charge carriers following laser excitation. Outcomes of this research will advance the application of strong-field techniques in novel materials, with potential applications to the development of optical-frequency electronics and compact attosecond light sources.
