Intense Terahertz Field Generation and Its Interaction with Matter

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to investigate the production of intense (10~100 MV/cm) THz radiation using tabletop femtosecond laser systems operating at 10 Hz and 1 kHz. Such a bright source of THz radiation can be used to study single-cycle THz-driven nonlinearities including tunneling ionization in atomic and molecular gases.
