Ultra High-Density Complex Oxide Quantum Wells for Emerging THz Plasmonic Effects and Devices

Abstract

The objectives are: (i) to develop hybrid MBE growth of quantum well structures of NdTiO3/SrTiO3 and NdTiO3/BaSnO3 and related materials with broken gap junction with atomic-level control; (ii) to study transport in these structures in order to understand, and eventually control, specific defects, structure, dimensionality, electron density, and plasmonic effects; and (iii) to build onthese achievements to make novel electron plasma-wave based THz devices operating at roomtemperature.
