The Hybridized Discontinuous Galerkin Method for Implicit Large Eddy Simulations of Magnetohydrodynamic Flows

Abstract

To develop an implicit large eddy simulation (ILES) capability for MHD flows using the hybrid discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) method and its variants. High scalable algorithms will be developed to handle large-scale problems (domain decomposition), and the methods will be applied to the simulation of lightning strikes on aircrafts.
