Many-Body Descriptions Of Rare Events In Complex Dynamical Systems

Abstract

The objectives are to develop new approaches to the prediction of rare and extreme events in complex networked systems with self-organized critical behavior. The methods will allow the prevention of catastrophic events in large scale networks of critical importance to the DOD and to the nation as a whole, against natural fluctuations as well as deliberate attacks.
