(DURIP) Mid-Infrared Laser Source for Femtosecond High Field Laser-Matter Interactions

Abstract

The objective of this DURIP proposal from the University of Maryland is to purchase an optical parametric chirped pulse amplifier system as a source of high power mid-infrared pulses (25 mJ, 90 fs, ?=3.9 µm). This mid-IR laser system will produce intense optical pulses of much longer wavelength than are currently available in the PI’s laboratories, enabling new experiments in fundamental nonlinear optics and strong field physics.
