Explosive Ozonolysis Reactions For Combustion Control
Abstract
ozonolysis reactions (spontaneous reactions between ozone and unsaturated hydrocarbons),which are currently missing in combustion kinetic mechanisms, and their effect on flamedynamics and kinetics relevant to scramjet (supersonic combustion ramjet) combustor as well asother Air Force relevant combustors. The proposed effort will provide the fundamentalunderstanding of ozonolysis reactions at combustion relevant conditions, and the coupling effectbetween this new category of reactions and flame dynamics. This research will provide apromising new technique for reliable ignition, flame stabilization, aerated fuel injection, andcoking removal in scramjet and other engines that support Air Force missions (e.g. study ofgeneric scramjet test rig in Research Cell 19 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base).
