Heated, Variable Pressure Gas Cell For Operando TEM Nano-Imaging For Propulsion Enhancement

Abstract

This grant will allow acquisition of a heatable, variable pressure gas cell sample holder with mass spectrometric gas analysis, to be used with a new scanning Transmission Electron Microscope. The instrument will allow imaging and elemental mapping of samples while they are heated and/or exposed to reactants. This equipment will enhance experiments under several DoD grants on endothermic fuels, nanoparticle additives to propellants, and cluster network materials.
