Fabrication Of Optical Components For Next Generation Quantum Technologies

Abstract

Develop ultra-low-loss optical waveguides by fusing opticle fibre onto a silica-on-silicon substrate, offering orders of magnitude lower loss than current state-of-the-art manufacturing systems. Secondarily, examine custom nonlinear optical components based on periodically poled nonlinear materials (PPLN), concentrating on devices for use at blue and near-UV wavelengths.
