Testing and Model Updating for Geometrically Nonlinear Hypersonic Vehicle Assemblies Using Nonlinear Normal Modes

Abstract

Part of the Multi-scale Structural Analysis and Prognosis portfolio is the development of the Airframe Digital Twin (ADT) to track the materials structural integrity, maintenance and life expectancy of each vehicle. In hypersonic vehicles, the environments are extreme and the material state will fatigue and undergo changes for each flight. The objective of this proposal is to study the nonlinear structural response of hypersonic components (e.g. panels) and develop analytical tools that can be employed to assess variations between vehicles. .
