Additive Manufacturing Quality Inspection System

Abstract

The objective of this DURIP is will acquire components to put together a system that will enable in-situ or non-destructive evaluation (NDE) quality assessment for additively manufactured parts. Goal of the NDE is to "provide a clear digital trail of the process variability, the geometric tolerance, and the structural integrity of components." Since the DoD is actively looking into pushing this technology as a mainstream manufacturing technique, quality assessment techniques would add great value for future efforts.
