Novel Photomechanics Approaches to Determine the Intra- & Inter-laminar Properties of Composites at High Rates of Strain

Abstract

The objective of the proposed project is to explore the use of novel inertial tests to measure both the through-thickness (interlaminar) and the in-plane (intralaminar) properties of composites. The concept relies on existing successful experiments performed on concrete and composites. The idea is to develop inertial impact tests to measure the stiffness and failure stress for both inter and intra laminar tension and shear.
