Data-Infused Fractional PDE Modelling and Simulation of Anomalous Transport

Abstract

The scientific understanding of complexphenomena such as anomalous transport should encompass both the qualitative andquantitative richness of phenomena and requires a new way of thinking. The standardmathematical models have been already pushed to their limits and beyond, and they areno longer adequate to fully describe the emergent phenomena of the twenty-first century. Here, we propose to adopt a fresh perspective, founded by the use of fractional calculusthat seamlessly generalizes the notion of integer-order calculus to its fractional-ordercounterpart.
