Spontaneous Computation in Chemical Systems

Abstract

This proposal will investigate the circumstances under which driven chemical interactions spontaneously perform universal computation. Driven chemical systems are known to exhibit spontaneous self organization and pattern formation. We propose to demonstrate that such chemical systems also spontaneously perform universal computation, and that they can generate arbitrarily complex computational structures.
