Magnetically Enhanced Electrospray From Ferrofluids

Abstract

The objective of the proposed research is an integrated experimental, theoretical, and numerical investigation of the fluid physics of magnetically enhanced electrospray from Rosensweig-Taylor instabilities incited in the surface of ferrofluid reserve and droplets. Objectives include the investigation of the dynamics of an individual ferrofluid tip distorted by magnetic and electric fields, magnetic stabilization at extremely low mass flow rates, determine necessary conditions for simultaneous parallel electrospray from an array of ferrofluid tips.
