The compositionally problem in synthetic biology: New directions for control theory

Abstract

The objective of this workshop is to articulate new theory that is required in the fields of systems, dynamics, and controls to solve a wide range of compositionality problems that are currently hampering the progress of synthetic biology. To this end, this workshop will bring together mathematicians, scientists, and engineers working in the core areas of systems, dynamics, and controls and researchers currently applying these core areas to syntheticbiology in a one-day-and-half event. The first morning of the workshop will be dedicated to a small number of high-level talks that will set the stage to the compositionality problem in synthetic biology. The afternoon will be fully dedicated to group discussions, in which each group will have a key theme to discuss about. The morning of the second day will have group presentations, in which each group will summarize the main outcomes of the discussion, with sufficient time left for Q&A. After the workshop, a report will be compiled with the main outcomes.
