Fundamental Mechanistic Investigations of Additively Manufactured Multi-Phase Hybrid Materials

Abstract

The proposed program will investigate fundamental processing-microstructure-mechanical (including tribomechanical) property interrelationships, contact mechanics, and deformation mechanisms of additively manufactured (AM) hybrid metallic materials for potential future aircraft structural applications. The proposed fundamental research will focus specifically on functionally-graded hybrid materials, processed via laser additive manufacturing technologies, for achieving site-specific properties.
