Multi-Axial High-Speed 3D Imaging System for Hypersonic Combustion Research

Abstract

This proposal is based on extensive collaborations with Wright Patterson Air Force Base(WPAFB), and the requested instrumentation will be used for visualizing the combustion dynamicsat both the University of Illinois and in the hypersonic wind tunnels at WPAFB. The integration ofthis new multi-axial 3D imaging system will yield unique and transformative insights into thephysics and chemistry of novel combustion phenomena in scramjets, resulting in significantadvancements for development of next generation hypersonic propulsion systems for the UnitedStates Air Force.
