High-Pressure, Temperature, and Reynolds Number Turbulent Combustion Facility: High-Resolution Laser Diagnostics at Extreme Operating Conditions

Abstract

In this DURIP proposal, funds are requested for the development and fabrication of a novel,optically-accessibly turbulent combustion facility and supporting imaging equipment that willenhance existing and enable new research that specifically targets flame dynamics and turbulence-chemistry interaction in high-pressure and ultra-high-Reynolds number reacting flows. Theoperating parameters are targeted to be commensurate with Air Force- and other DoD agency relevant flow and thermodynamic conditions, while focusing on fundamental turbulentcombustion physics at extreme operating conditions.
