Accurately-Posed Direct Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Combustion at High-Reynolds Numbers by Data Assimilation

Abstract

An accurately-posed DNS will be achieved by driving the DNS sub-regions with accurateIBCs from the parent LES that is enhanced by DA using experiment data. This allows DNS tobe validated by physical experiments, generating reliable DNS data for the development of new SGS models and/or the improvement of existing ones. A new efficient and effective computational tool will be produced, supporting the development, analysis, and evaluation of turbulent-combustion models.
