Abstract

Quantify the damage evolution in situ during cyclic loading to develop a fundamentalunderstanding of the microstructural features that contribute to fatigue failure Quantify the bursts associated with microscale plasticity and microstructurally-short crack propagation during cyclic loading, and determine whether they represent self-organized critical systems.
