DDDAS-as-a-Service: Dynamic Resource Management Algorithms and Systems Software for an Infosymbiotics Hosting Platform
Abstract
Addressing the needs for increased autonomy is hard given the scale, and the dynamic anduncertain nature of USAF operations, which increasingly span large geographical areas thatinterconnect multiple and heterogeneous distributed systems, must exploit a sensor-drivenworld involving heterogeneous network protocols and technologies, end systems, and softwaresystems that support these operations. The Dynamic Data-Driven Applications Systems(DDDAS) paradigm is a promising approach to develop the next-generation of USAF/DoDsystems. New challenges for DDDAS stem from the sensor sources having highly dynamic anduncertain lifetimes. Further, the model learning and execution in such uncertain environmentsmust be carried out in a distributed manner across a spectrum of resources ranging from thecentralized cloud to the network edge comprising the sensors.
