Research into materials and quantum structures for high power InAs/InAsSb superlattice based MWIR LEDs, for scene generation arrays

Abstract

In this project we shall research and develop mid-infrared LEDs based on InAs/InAsSb superlattices, with optimization of performance towards the requirements of novel scene generation arrays. The project will initially focus on state-of-the-art growth of superlattice structures, seeking optimal growth conditions. This will be followed by in depth temperature dependent photoluminescence and structural studies, supported and reconciled with modelling. As the project progresses the fundamental research will be applied to test emitters and expanded with growth on IR transparent GaAs substrates. Results will be assessed in relation to the requirements of scene generation arrays.
