First International Workshop on Multi-functional Nanocarbon Fibres

Abstract

The First International Workshop on Multi-functional Nanocarbon Fibres will gather leading researchers and industry around the globe working on nanocarbons, with a view to developing the next generation of functional carbon fibres and fabrics and discussing future challenges. The workshop aims at developing a synergistic approach to model, synthesize, and integrate these smart CNT fibers and could eventually enable the R&D community to develop smart fabrics on an industrial scale. The topics covered by the workshop include experiment and/or theory research on CNT- and/or graphene-based fibres, with a particular interest in: Synthesis, Mechanical properties, Transport properties, Energy storage and harvesting, Smart Composites, Sensors and actuators, Theory and Modelling, Processes and Industrialisation. Following the event, a summary of the workshop will be provided to the attendees and to AFOSR as a means to develop the foundation for moving forward this field.
