Nonlocal PDEs: Modeling, Analysis, Control and Beyond

Abstract

This project aims at making significant contributions to the broad area of analysis, dynamics, control and numerical approximation of models involving nonlocal Partial Differential Equations(PDEs) by addressing some key issues that remain poorly understood or unsolved and that ap-pear systematically in real-life applications including but not limited to collective behavior, wavepropagation in heterogeneous media with high contrast, viscoelasticity, denoising algorithms andnonlocal image processing, anomalous transport and diffusion. This ambitious research programwill be developed at the intersection of three areas that have evolved rapidly in the last decades:(i) PDEs, (ii) Control and (iii) Numerics, in which our team has broad experience and expertise.
