2018 Summer Research School on Fluid Dynamics: Topics in Turbulence
Abstract
This proposal is for support of the 2018 Summer Research School on Fluid Dynamics: Topics inTurbulence, organized by the Burgers Program for Fluid Dynamics at the University ofMaryland in collaboration with the Center for Environmental and Applied Fluid Dynamics atJohns Hopkins University. The Summer School is scheduled for the week of June 11-15, 2018,and consists of a series of lectures and hands-on tutorials by about 10 invited experts in the field.The School is aimed at senior graduate students (students who have taken at least one course inturbulence). About 50-55 students will be invited to attend the Summer School in person, withairfare and lodging paid for by the School. The School offers these students a unique opportunityto learn about advanced topics in turbulence research, and to begin building their professionalnetworks and community.
