Quantum Enhanced Precision and Stability of Atomic Clocks

Abstract

The proposed research is in the area of atomic interferometry involving internal atomic states, where each atom is assumed to possess only two relevant levels and where transitions between those levels are driven by classical coherent radiation fields, microwave fields in the case of a collection of trapped ions. Lessons learned from our optical work will be applied to the present project.
