Programmable Elastic Metamaterials for Unprecedented Wave and Dynamic Control

Abstract

The proposed research will enlarge the scope of research on active elastic metamaterials from passive analog circuits to “active digital circuit controls” to overcome the limitation of the analog circuits and increase the flexibility in real-time. A new programmable elastic metamaterial based on compact digital synthetic impedance circuits will be developed so that the effective material parameters can be automatically tailored for a specific application remotely.
