Analog High Performance Computation via Extreme Nonlinear Optics: Computing Infrastructure for Theoretical Assessment

Abstract

It is proposed to use high-harmonic generation (HHG) to transform optical signals to achieve information processing tasks. This analog-based form of optical computing can be performed at peta-Hertz rates, and with single molecules at the theoretical limit, with nano-sized particles in a near-term practical configuration. The basic theory will be tested for problems of large number factorization and reservoir computing, a special form of a neural network.
