Plasmon-induced Electric Effects in Plasmonic Surfaces

Abstract

The project will focus on study of novel photo-induced electric effects associated with surface plasmons in metal films, nanostructured surfaces, and metasurfaces. Coupling of plasmonic and electric effects in metal nanostructures is of key importance for future plasmonic-based electronics, because it provides direct opportunity to incorporate plasmonic elements to electronic circuits, and to monitor and control them electrically. Introduction of plasmonic elements into electronic circuits can considerably speed up their operation, considering the typical bandwidth of complex plasmonic structures on the order of several hundreds of THz.
