Integrated Nonlinear Optical Materials Foundry

Abstract

UT Austin propose the acquisition of a multi-technique growth reactor to accelerate discovery anddevelopment of the nonlinear optical materials that will enable integrated silicon photonics, ahybrid technology combining semiconductor logic with fast broadband optical communicationsand optical information technologies. This equipment will greatly enhance research effortand will serve as a nonlinear optical thin film materials foundry to the large nonlinear opticscommunity at the University of Texas and across the U.S. This facility will enable translationalresearch as U.S. laboratories, including the Air Force Research Labs (AFRL) gain access to filmsfor their work.
