Chilean Neuromorphic Computing Initiative

Abstract

The Chilean Neuromorphic Computing Initiative (CLNCI) is a transdisciplinary projectgathering 5 National Centers of Excellence in Research, joining investigators from Biophysics,Computer Science, Neuroscience and Nanoscience, with the aim of developing scientificknowledge to support the advancement of neuromorphic research. CLNCI is focused on theapplication of fundamental properties of the nervous system; such as plasticity, criticality andneural topology; to test and evaluate the design and development of both algorithmicarchitectures and nano-scale devices mimicking the signal sensing, processing, storing, andadaptation occurring in the mammalian brain. To do so, our approach is organized into threeresearch lines covering aspects related to the production of novel molecular sensors capable oftransducing multimodal signals, the fabrication of nano-oscillators capable of processing andstoring information, and the development of novel algorithmic architectures capable ofproducing continuous learning by adaptive topology.
