Geometric Control Theoretic Formulation and Analysis of Unsteady Fluid Flows

Abstract

Geometric control theory represents a mathematically elegant combination of differential geometry and control theory. Practically, it allows exploitation of nonlinear interactions for the generation of forces in non intuitive directions and the design of unconventional stabilizing mechanisms. The overarching goal of this proposal is to formulate the unsteady aerodynamics of two and three dimensional wings in a geometric control framework.
