Unsteady Aerodynics of Goal Bsed Propulsion and Flight Employing CPFD

Abstract

The goal of the proposed research is to understand the flow physics behind unsteady, flapping propulsion systems and to optimize the thrust and efficiency of these systems. This will build on recent research conducted using the Cyber Physical Fluid Dynamics (CPFD) facility, wherein a body moves instantaneously in response to the physical fluid forces acting on it, in addition to software defined “virtual forces”.
