De Novo Biomachines

Abstract

This project will develop de novo soft wet molecular modules that will allow for the interconversion of energy in the forms of light, chemical bonds, ion concentration gradients, electrical currents, and bond distortions. Taken together, the tools developed here could provide energy sources for bio inspired and-or bio compatible computing structures, as well as structures that enable the flow of energy and information across biotic abiotic interfaces. Access to this kind of toolbox would be empowering for the further design and realization of low power consumption nanomachines and computing structures.
