Touchless Sensing of Electrostatic Potential and Material Characterization Using

Abstract

Two methods are presented for remotely determining the electrostatic potential and basic material properties of a nearby space object. Being able to simultaneously sense the surface material property enables developing a surface charging model or making docking decisions depending on the surface composition.
