(YIP) CHARACTERIZATION, MULTIPHYSICS MODELING AND MITIGATION OF INSULATION MATERIAL DEGRADATION AND BREAKDOWN

Abstract

Through a series of integrated theoretical, simulation, and experimental studies, the PI’s long-term goal is to study (1) accelerated aging of solid dielectrics due to internal partial discharges, and (2) electrical breakdown in air, under fast, repetitive voltage pulses in low-pressure, harsh environments. The following describes why this project is distinct from other studies and highlights its goals and merits.
