STABLE AND ROBUST HIGH ORDER ACCURATE SCHEMES FOR HYPERSONIC FLOWS

Abstract

We propose to perform research on the algorithm design, analysis, implementation and application for high order schemes, including but not restricted to weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) nite dierence and nite volume schemes and discontinuous Galerkin (DG) nite element methods, for solving partial dierential equations in complex geometry arising from physical applications, in particular from hypersonic ows. The goal of this research is to help obtaining more robust, cost eective, and reliable numerical tools for hypersonic ow computation that are of interest to AFOSR.
