Mechanism(s) of the anomalous electron current and coherent structures in magnetized ExB discharges

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to predict accurately electron transport across magnetic field in ExB devices such as Hall thrusters, collaborating with the Princeton University. This is a continuation of the recent discovery by the proposer, a new mechanism of electron transport which is supported by the coherent periodic wave traveling perpendicular to the crossed magnetic and electric fields, where electron current is sensitive to the temperature of electrons injected from the cathode, which opens the possibility for the control of the electron and the total discharge current and performance by variation of the injection temperature.
