Realizing and controlling unconventional magnetic excitations in non-Bravais magnets
Abstract
The central goal of this proposed project is to achieve both the detection and the manipulation of terahertz (THz) high frequency and topologically protected spin waves for the next-generation (opto-)spintronic device applications. This project explores novel magnetic materials with non-Bravais lattices, for example, honeycomb and Kagome lattice magnets. In contrast to ferromagnets (FM) for traditional gigahertz (GHz) spintronics, non-Bravais magnets host more than one spin wave branches, among which higher energy branches enter in the THz frequency range that is dominated by the magnetic exchange coupling between spin.
