The synthesis of supernitride compounds via extreme (pressure, temperature) conditions- a new generation of high-energy density materials.

Abstract

The synthesis of metastable supernitrides compounds, formed under high pressure-temperature conditions, may hold the key for a new generation of high-energy density materials. The research goal is to investigate the possibility of readily synthesizing supernitrides using extreme conditions pathways, and to produce a theoretical understanding of chemical processes and metastable states that could allow the recovery of highly energetic materials at ambient conditions.
