(DURIP) HIGH-SPEED PRESSURE-SENSITIVE PAINT SYSTEM FOR THE RUTGERS MACH 3.4 WIND TUNNEL

Abstract

High-speed flows require advanced diagnostics to fully understand the complex unsteadiness that underlie many aerodynamic applications. The proposed ISSI high-speed pressure-sensitive paint system are such tools needed to provide time-resolved insight into the unsteady surface pressure distribution. The proposed equipment will greatly enhance the research and educational capabilities at Rutgers University by providing a unique resource to investigate problems of concern to the Department of Defense. The high-speed pressure-sensitive paint can achieve repetition rates up to 20-kHz and is equipped with a binary system capable of decoupling temperature sensitivity, providing an enhanced level of accuracy in the measurement. The proposed system includes the paint, color camera for binary measurements, along with post processing software.
