Instrumentation for High Power Microwave Amplifier Investigations

Abstract

The architecture of the hybrid opto-electronic correlator may be summarized as follows. The query image is captured by a camera, transferred to a Spatial Light Modulator (SLM), processed via PLT, and transferred to the optical domain using another SLM. The reference images are retrieved from a holographic memory disc that stores PLT-processed images. Both query and reference images are each Fourier Transformed with a lens, followed by interference with a plane wave beam, and then detected by a Focal Plane Array (FPA). Signals from the two FPA’s are processed by an electronic chip to produce an output that is sent to a different SLM. Another plane wave reflected by this SLM is passed through an FT lens to produce the correlation signal detected by a third FPA.
