(DURIP) ENABLING NEXT-GENERATION HETEROGENEOUS COMPUTING FOR MASSIVELY PARALLEL HIGH-ORDER COMPRESSIBLE CFD

Abstract

The following proposal requests funding for the procurement of 28 AMD Mi100 graphics processing units (GPUs) mounted in 7 Dell C4140 servers. These servers will be used to expand our groups’ high performance computing capability by 50 percent. Such an expansion will enable us to further develop and extend the high-order flux reconstruction approach, and apply it to increasingly challenging problems of relevance to the air force up to Re ? 107. In particular, we are interested in extending our methods and codes such that they can be employed to investigate transition in compressors for coupled rotor-stator configurations, and transition in representative hypersonic vehicles. This work will be facilitated through the development of enhanced high-order shockcapturing techniques, data-informed basis enrichment, and the application of machine learning for data compression and model order reduction
