DURIP-21, MULTI-MHZ IMAGING AND SPECTROSCOPY OF ENERGETIC REACTIONS AND DETONATING FLOWS

Abstract

Funds are requested for the acquisition of a multi-MHZ high speed camera for imaging and spectroscopy diagnostics of energetic reactions and detonating flows. The high-speed camera that is capable of imaging ten million frames per second is critically needed to provide in-situ characterization of interfacial structure, damage evolution, temperature-field evolution, solid-solid phase transitions, and product composition of advanced energetic, composite, and granular materials.
