Thermal properties of Silicon-based ceramic aerogels under different humidity and temperature levels.

Abstract

The main goal of this project is to design and produce silicon-based aerogels systems with different chemical compositions (silica and SiOC) but having similar porosity features, i.e., akin pore size, volume. A special focus will be directed to obtain aerogels with large pore size (~1 ?m) that has never been the objective in previous studies in which usually the target was placed on pore size as small as possible to obtain the highest surface area. Following that produced aerogels will be characterized concerning their thermal properties under different temperatures and humidity levels.
