DURIP BURST-MODE WAVELENGTH-AGILE LASER SYSTEM FOR HYPERSONIC RESEARCH

Abstract

This AFOSR DURIP proposal outlines an effort to integrate a burst mode wavelength-agile laser system capable of sustained kHz PLIF imaging (greater than100 kHz). With recent advances in high-speed tunable laser diagnostics, cinematographic imaging of physicochemical parameters in reactive flows is quickly becoming a powerful diagnostics tool. The system proposed here is a significant advancement of its potential, capable of providing unprecedented insights into the dynamics of high-speed combustion and shock wave dynamics in hypersonic environments such as scramjets and rotational detonation engines.
