High-Throughput Characterization of High Cycle Fatigue for Extreme Temperature Aerospace Applications
Abstract
The proposed thermal mechanical interaction work will be performed in close collaboration with AFRL s Turbine Engine Fatigue Facility (TEFF) following two research objectives- (1) demonstrate novel, high-throughput testing capabilities to characterize high cycle fatigue (HCF) life under extreme temperature operating conditions; and (2) expand the limits of optical strain measurements to higher temperatures, further magnifications, faster loading rates, and more simultaneous measurements.
